Oral Contraceptive pills(OCP) - their benefits and Side effects
Oral contraceptive pills are hormonal compounds used for birth control in women. A recent study reveals about 80% of women from US used oral contraceptive pills between 15 to 44 years of age. About 20 to 50 percent of women discontinue using OCP because of adverse side effects. The side effects include weight gain, headache, nausea, mood swing etc.
Why women use Oral Contraceptive?
Majority of women choose OCP as birth control method because it is inexpensive. The only problem most women report is about remembering to take the pill everyday. Many women complain they forget to take the pill. The moment you realize that you have forgotten the pill yesterday, take two pills in one day. It will not have any side effects. If you have forgotten for two consecutive days, then you should use two pills one day, another two the next day and then continue as usual one pill a day.
Missing consecutive pills is more difficult to fix in third week of menstrual cycle. If you are still unsure about the missing dosage, always consult your physician. He will guide you accordingly or may suggest alternative birth control method.
