Nutrition and Human health

Nutrition is vital necessity for life. It is most essential for living organisms to maintain healthy cells. Poor diet has adverse effect on the general health of human beings. It leads to many ailments and disease conditions like scurvy, beriberi, cardio vascular disease, diabetes and osteoporosis etc.

Human body contains many chemical compounds like water, carbohydrates, proteins and amino acids, fatty acids, nucleic acid like DNA, RNA, elements like carbon, oxygen, nitrogen etc.

Nutrients are further classified to micro nutrients which are needed in small quantities by the body and macro nutrients which are needed in bulk like carbohydrates, fats, proteins etc. Carbohydrates, protein provide the energy needed for physical activities.

Proteins are the main building blocks  of body structure. Human body requires amino acids for the synthesis of protein. Some essential and non essential amino acids are required in our daily diet for healthy body.
