Cardiac health is most important in men over the age of forty. That too for men who are in sedentary lifestyle and not exercise regularly.

Heart disease is number one killer in the US. There are different forms of heart disease.  The simple and common cause is narrowing or blockage of blood vessels which supply blood to the heart. It will not happen all of a sudden but slowly over time. This is caleed coronary artery heart disease. This is what is commonly known as heart attack. Other problems which may affect the valves in the heart, or the heart may not pump well which leads to heart failure.

Steps to take to avoid heart disease:

Keep watch on your blood pressure. Blood pressure or hyper tension is called silent killer, because it shows no symptoms in many cases. So after forty years check up your BP every three months.

Keep vigil on cholesterol. Lipid profile will reveal the cholesterol kevel.
Exercise regularly for at least 45 minutes a day. Exercise means aerobic exercise like brisk walking, jogging, swimming etc. If you smoke, it is time to quit for good.
